Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about DNS MALIK, its security features, and how it handles your network requests.
What is DNS MALIK and why should I use it?
DNS MALIK is a private, encrypted DNS resolver built on top of high-performance infrastructure. It functions as an intermediary translator between your browser and the web, resolving domains securely. By using DNS MALIK, your requests are encrypted via TLS, keeping your search history private from ISPs and intermediate snooping devices.
Is DNS MALIK free to use?
Yes, DNS MALIK is 100% free. It is a personal and family-centric project deployed on secure Cloud VPS architecture. There are no fees, premium tiers, or hidden subscriptions.
Does DNS MALIK slow down my internet?
No. In fact, it typically speeds up page load times. DNS MALIK uses aggressive local memory caching for instant lookups. Additionally, because it drops requests for ads, telemetry servers, and tracking scripts at the DNS level, your browser downloads significantly less data on each webpage visit.
What data does DNS MALIK collect?
We enforce a strict **Zero-Logs policy**. DNS queries are processed entirely in memory and are discarded. We do not write queries to disk, compile search behaviors, or share any network footprints. This project is built by and for family to maximize security, not commercial tracking.
Which devices are supported?
Any device that allows manual DNS entries or supports Secure Private DNS (DNS-over-TLS). This includes Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, smart home devices, and routers (which automatically protects every device connected to your Wi-Fi).
Does this DNS setting persist after a restart, and does it apply to all Wi-Fi networks?
Yes, it persists across restarts. Once you save the DNS IP and HTTPS template, Windows stores these settings in the registry permanently so you never have to re-enter them.
By default, Windows 11 saves DNS settings per network SSID. If you configure it via the default Windows Settings app, it will only apply to that specific Wi-Fi connection. If you connect to another network (such as a mobile hotspot or public Wi-Fi), Windows will fall back to the default DNS.
How to apply DNS globally to all networks (Recommended):
- Press Win + R, type
ncpa.cpl, and press Enter to open the network adapters panel. - Right-click your active Wi-Fi adapter and select Properties.
- Double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) in the list.
- Select Use the following DNS server addresses and enter
129.153.222.165as the Preferred DNS server. Click OK to close both dialogs. - Open Windows Settings ➔ Network & internet ➔ Wi-Fi, scroll down to the bottom, click on your Wi-Fi properties, edit the DNS server assignment to set encryption to Encrypted only (DNS over HTTPS), and paste the template URL:
